Voici un après-midi d’un charme parfait. L’air est exquis. Une brume est sur le bois comme la fleur pourpre sur les prunes. Allons-nous coucher sur l’herbe, fumer des cigarettes et jouir de la nature.&#38;nbsp;

Il y a quelque temps, charmée par le graphisme de ces livres, j’ai acheté des ouvrages de cette collection.
La mention « Stock, Delamain et Boutelleau » ne désigne pas la maison d’édition mais une période de l’histoire des éditions Stock, dirigées dans les années 1920 et 1930 par Maurice Delamain – auparavant libraire – et Jacques Boutelleau, pseudo de Jacques Chardonne, père des hussards.
Leur volonté commune était simple : moderniser la maison en développant une politique éditoriale ambitieuse : collections variées ouvertes vers l’international, grande importance à la qualité littéraire et à l’esthétique des livres.
L’idée de peindre la nature dont je suis une fervente admiratrice s’est vite imposée. Ainsi ces petits musées personnels.

Les paroles du cœur sont enfantines. Les voix de la chair sont élémentaires. M. Teste, d’ailleurs, pense que l’amour consiste à pouvoir être bêtes ensemble, — toute licence de niaiserie et de bestialité.&#38;nbsp;

Sans Prince, je n’aurais peut-être jamais acheté ce livre. Resté en sommeil dans ma bibliothèque pendant trente ans, j’ai soudain décidé de le confier à Ilann Vogt pour qu’il devienne un livre d’artiste. Non sans un léger pincement au cœur.

 
Une véritable cure de jouvence.

 
Après tant d’années de fidélité, cette vie à deux méritait pleinement d’être mise en lumière.

Lorsqu’une œuvre est très belle, elle perd son auteur. Elle n’est plus sa propriété. Elle convient à tous. Elle dévore son père.

Se souvenir d’une pièce austère où gît un sofa vert. Son cuir gaufré d’arabesques est si rude que l’on peine à s’y asseoir. De fines lignes droites d’un jaune fané structurent un grand tapis au vert suranné. Sur le plateau d’une commode trône une eau-forte signée. Enfant je lève les yeux pour la contempler, perplexe quant à sa beauté. N’est-elle pas posée ici pour être admirée ? Vestige d’un passé dont il reste peu de témoins, en l’estampillant, je célèbre et romps à la fois notre lien. De ma plus belle écriture, je m’affranchis ainsi du poids d’une image reçue en héritage.

« Naturellement&#38;nbsp;», comme le déclare Paulhan au comité de lecture, le manuscrit de L’étranger est accepté*.

« Naturellement », Ilann Vogt a choisi un exemplaire de la collection Soleil de Gallimard pour créer ses tissages.

utiliser la chute de ce volume pour mes découpages me semblait une évidence. 

«&#38;nbsp;Naturellement&#38;nbsp;», une page de titre s’est imposée, celle d’un de mes exemplaires que je trouvais particulièrement élégante.

Têtes de rechange est le livre pour enfants qui a inspiré Raymond Queneau pour créer cette sorte de machine à fabriquer des poèmes (sic). Ce polisson d'Ilann Vogt a réduit leurs combinaisons de création en tissant les lamelles du livre initial. Moi, j'ai imaginé Raymond Queneau en génie de cette fabrique à rêves.

Othello ou le Maure de Venise


À l’automne 1941, Vercors fonde avec Pierre de Lescure les Éditions de Minuit, maison d’édition clandestine et publie «Le Silence de la mer» le 20 février 1942. Cette nouvelle connaît un succès immédiat et sera traduite dans une cinquantaine de langues, interprétée au cinéma, au théâtre, à la télévision et demeure encore aujourd’hui une source d’inspiration.
 
En tissant le texte intégral du livre, Ilann Vogt a créé cinq tissages sur lesquels je suis intervenue en eau-forte. Avec un certain classicisme éditorial, j’ai enrichi mon exemplaire du Silence de la mer, daté de 1948 et paru chez Minuit of course, de ces tissages illustrés. Ainsi, des pages de garde, des illustrations. Les images sont un condensé d’impressions, notamment celles de ma première lecture de ce livre dans des temps immémoriaux et celles de mon amour pour la bande-annonce du film de J.-P.  Melville, une œuvre en soi.
